Uber Funk

Last night I went to bed without washing my face (Note to future me- I don't want hear any bitching about your prematurely wrinkled, spotty face). I was just so tired, but more than that I was cold and couldn't stand the idea of water on my face. These Chicago winters are really staring to ware on me. After 13 years, I can't stand them anymore! I desperately want to move someplace warm, but I am absolutely addicted to city life and public transportation! I love being able to walk out my front door and have everything I need within walking distance. Great bars, restaurants, grocery stores and, like, 3 shoe stores! I love being able to poor myself into a cab after night of boozin' it up. The only warm weather location I can think of that has all that is San Francisco, but they also have NYC prices and earthquakes. Big, cold *sigh*.

I'm afraid my blog is going to be super long and not very funny tonight. I'll try to remember that this is a blog and not my personal journal. Hmmm, maybe I need one of those? Anyway, today I did look into a few schools. And I did go to the grocery store, but I bought way too much and was then exhausted when I got home, so no juicing. Maybe tomorrow. The schools that I looked into were Columbia in Chicago, U of M in Ann Arbour and IU in Indianapolis. I want to study American Sign Language and eventually become and interpreter for the deaf. Or at least I think that's I want to do. Lord knows I do not want to have anything to do with Corporate America! I want to do something meaningful with my life and be able to contribute something positive to the world. I recently had a job interview and although they "loved" me, I was not hired because my computer skills are not up to par. When I got the news I was relieved! I don't want to spend my life looking at fucking spreadsheets. Yuck! Sooo not me! I am, however, desperate for a better job that pays more. I'm stressed about money, big time (that's part of the reason I'm not joining WW), but the idea of going from one crappy office where I could care less about the work I'm doing to another just because it pays more is so depressing. Of course I realize sometimes we have to make sacrifices to survive, but I feel like I've been doing that for forever. When I was acting, I worked jobs I hated because they were flexible and all I cared about was acting. This lead to the greatest burn out of all time and my subsequent retirement from acting. So, back to school. I've been trying to think of something I could do that would inspire some passion in me and be rewarding in both financially and emotionally. I think ASL-English Interpretation is it, but when I was looking into schools I ran into an all too familiar road block, self doubt. Ugh. Moving on...

I received my Christmas present from my Dad today. One of the weirder gifts I've received from him, too. He gave me the book "Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man" by Steve Harvey. I'm laughing now as I write this, but when I opened it, it sent me straight to the refrigerator for some emotional eating! All I bought today, for the most part, was healthy crap. This made bingeing very hard. I ate a carrot and some cucumber slices that I bathed in light ranch dressing, making it not very light anymore. Then I ate some shredded cheese by the handful. Thank you Mom for accidently buying the full fat cheese! I'm always telling my sister not to ever expect our Dad to be very Dad-like or thoughtful. I have to remember that myself.

Well, sorry to unload on you. I have so many friends in Chicago (and everywhere-so blessed in this area) and yet sometimes I feel like I don't have anyone I can call to just go for a drink and talk on a school night. Stupid grown up lives!

Tomorrows goals:
1. Be less whiney. I mean, at least I'm not a bird falling out the sky, dead! I'm not fighting a war in the desert!
2. Blog
3. Get a massage and be done with this back pain!
4. Juice

Thanks for reading :-) I bet there are a thousand typo's because not only am I the queen of the quiche cup, but I am also queen of the typo.

Night-night

PS- Suck it, Corporate America!!

  1. Oh Sister, It sounds like a rough soul searching day. But you know what's great, that you realized it, talked about it, and will have a better day tomorrow.
Sometimes (most of the time) my Dad and his actions cause me to binge eat...I know the feeling. What you did eat, not too shabby, could've been worse right?!
and Fuck spreadsheets, they make my mind spin off in oblivion.
Have a better day tomorrow, I know you will :)

  2. My Jenna Bean. Thank you for being honest. The book made me laugh out loud too. You and I have shared a lot about our goals and fears with our careers and if you think about how much you come from last year it's awesome. Remember when you were taking private monologue classes and you told me you didn't think you had the same love. You are half way there. You have something else you're interested in. That's most of the battle!! Fuck Fear! Excuse my french.
