Have I Mentioned the Juicer?

Last night, after reading some of my fellow FTL (FollowThroughLadies) blogs I was reminded that I'd like to start running again. Honestly, I never liked running, but I LOVED racing. I am a whore for camaraderie! My Dad pointed out that I am a rat in chinese astrology and that rats travel in packs. I do love a pack! So, I'm adding to my list that I would like to start racing again, and if that means I have run, so be it. There was so much talk on the blogosphere about running and racing that I thought, wouldn't it be great if at the end of this year all of us FTL girls could make a plan to meet for a race in early 2012? Some of us know each other and some of us don't, so it would be a great reunion, first meeting, vacation, hey-look-what-I did bragathon. Think about it!

My back is really stiff today and I'll admit that it is bringing me down a bit. I've been dealing with this for weeks and I am OVER IT! I can't start exercising or doing much of anything until I can stand up straight and without pain and stiffness. My apartment is going to look like an episode of hoarders soon! And I can't grocery shop mostly because I don't own a car and walking absolutely exhausts me. I'm so anxious to start my new routine that I guess I'll be forced to order from Peapod, which is a great site, but I prefer to pick out my own veggies.

Speaking of veggies, I bought a juicer. That's right, last summer I bought one of those Jack Lalanne power juicers. I bought it because I have all kinds of digestive issues and I was trying to find an easy way to get my veggies. Well, have you ever cleaned a juicer? It's not hard, but it is time consuming and has to be done immediately after juicing otherwise the pulp will get hard and then, if you're me, you'd sooner throw the thing in the trash with a "meh, it didn't work out" than try to clean it. That being said, the few times that I did juice, my stomach felt so good! I really felt like I was doing something great for myself. As soon as I can stand for more 15 minutes at a time I am going start juicing again! Even if I only start out at 2 or 3 times a week.

As for today's accomplishments, I ordered my miracle noodles (http://miraclenoodle.com). Yay! A nutritionist I follow on facebook provided a link to this site and I was instantly intrigued. Read about them and you'll see why. I ran to my nearest Whole Foods and bought one package of Shiratake noodles so I could try them before placing an order for the miracle noodles (same item, different name). They are pretty awesome! A great fat free, carb free, calorie-ish free sub for noodles that are loaded with fiber. They basically taste like whatever you cook with them as the noodles themselves are flavorless.

OMG, The Biggest Loser just started! There are twin cops with mustaches! I gotta go!

Night-night!

  1. MIRACLE NOODLES?! I am running to Whole Foods tomorrow!! I think the race thing could be fun, I however can't run very well, no matter what my fitness level, due to an injury. But I think a meet up could be fun!

  3. When you go to Whole Foods, look for Shiratake noodles in the cold case. I think they were near the tortillas. And don't freak out when they smell a little fishy. They don't taste fishy at all!

If not everyone can run, maybe they can just hand us beers at the finish line. We'll need the carbs! And then we can all just hang out. Yay! I say "Yay!" too much.

  5. I'm not the running type but April and I will happily drink beer waiting for you guys to finish running, hopefully there will some left to hand to you! Also, so funny about the juicer. My brother, who also has stomach issues loves his juicer so much that he bought one for me this Christmas. I have to say it's pretty great. We made pineapple-orange juice the other night and it was delish!
