Eureka! New WW Plan For Moi!

I lost a pound this week. The number 1 seems to be my number. I had to remind myself that if I lose one pound a week until my birthday, I'll be at goal ON my birthday. How much would that rule? A lot! So, my new mantra is, "I'm number 1, I'm number 1". That being said, I would of course like to have weeks where I lose a little more. And I think I may have discovered a way to do it, thanks to something I learned at my meeting today. One of the women was celebrating losing 11.5 pounds today and our leader asked her the usual questions; how do you feel and what have you learned. The woman said that she felt great because her clothes were starting to fit her again and she learned that starting her points at night really worked for her. At first I kind of dismissed the starting her points at night thing even though I was slightly intrigued. My leader then said it was something that hadn't been talked about for a while and went on to explain that our points are for a 24 hour time period and that we can start them at any time. She said some people are very into a routine and don't need a lot of variety at breakfast and lunch, but enjoy having more variety and points at dinner. I found myself a little more intrigued, but thought, I'm in a routine and do I really need to change what I'm doing. You know, sometimes the light bulb doesn't so much switch on as it slowly illuminates. And that is what happened to me!

I came home and laid down to rest my back and started to ponder the idea of starting my points at, say, 5 or 6 at night. I thought about how much I really do like variety at dinner and how much I just plain like dinner. It's my meal. It's the time of day when I am the most hungry and when I truly look forward to not just eating, but also to the food. I thought about how I try to eat as few points as I can during the day so that I know I have the points I need for dinner or any food indiscretions that might come up. I thought about the fact that even if I eat 25 points throughout the day, I will most likely still want at least a 10 point dinner and maybe a snack. I think you see where I'm going with this. Eureka! This is mostly likely the perfect plan for me! Yay! I am going to try this approach for a couple of weeks and see how I feel and if it will have an impact on my weight loss. I also think this approach will be very helpful for nights out. If my points start at 29 and I end having a 20 point night, I think I'd be okay with a 9 point day with maybe dipping into a few weekly points. We'll see how it goes. After a month on the plan, I'm looking forward to trying something new! I used to hate WW meetings, but I now see how valuable they are and I get why people who attend meetings and track lose more weight.

  2. Yay Jenna! I love my WW meetings. My meeting is like an AA meeting, it's great. We are all emotional eaters so we have lots to talk about. I'm glad you enjoy your meeting because it really makes a difference! There are quite a few people in my group that start their points at night.

  3. I'm so glad Mel is not waving her middle finger at me! Haha!

My WW meeting feels like an AA meeting, too. And I enjoy the tips, but there are too may serious people in there. I need a fun group, but I love my meeting time so I'll probably stick to it.
