Blogging So I Don't Eat My Arm Off

I have diet burnout. I'm pretty sure this happens at about the same time every time I start dieting. Right before the 10 pound mark, which if I keep nibbling today I will not hit on Saturday. I have felt hungry all day and I know part of it is what I ate, but it's also just good old fashioned burnout. I spend so much time in my kitchen every day because I know I have to have a variety of meals that taste good or I will not stick to the program. I'm not one of those "make a big diner and save half for lunch" kinda gals. I don't like leftovers (except cold pizza) and although I truly enjoy cooking, it is exhausting. This weekend I may have to try cooking all my dinners for the week. I'm not sure if I can mentally wrap myself around that idea as it sounds awfully leftover-y. But, I don't want to spend hours in the kitchen every night either.

If you saw my post on the group site, you know that I was given a goody bag by a client today. It's mostly fruit, which is FANTASTIC, but then there's the dried mango, which is 3 points a serving and the dark chocolate covered almonds, which are....I don't want to talk about it. The dried mango is so delicious! I've already eaten over a serving. From this day forward, it is not allowed in my apartment. The almonds don't tempt me as much because I'm not really a fan of dark chocolate. However, when I'm having a weak moment, I enjoy just about anything in food form.

My nephew is out of the hospital. Thank Goodness! I spoke with my sister and she said that the hospital was filthy and that they didn't have toilette paper or bedding so she and her fiance had to bring sheets to put on the cement floor so they could sleep next to Ty. Thankfully, they ended up with a great doctor! Ty is only a year old and my sister is a first time mommy so I'm sure she was a mess. She hasn't had to deal with illnesses and all those other fun things that come with being a parent. I don't think I'd have the strength for it. I'll stick to being the best Auntie EVER!

  1. Yay! So happy for your nephew!!!! Ya know, I get the same burnout, I just keep going to the gym praying that my workouts will make a difference because I have those days when all I want to do is EAT!
I also used to hate left overs, but I learned to love them when I came to the realization, that left overs aren't lame, it means you have dinner already made!
One thing I do though, as to not get totally bored, is I never eat the same thing two days in a row...freeze them if you have to, after awhile you'll have a pretty good stock of ready made point valued meals in your freezer :)
Have a beautiful day tomorrow!! xo

  3. So glad to hear your nephew is doing well. Have you thought about buying a crock pot? This is my new obsession. I want a crock pot. I hate cooking and they have all of these great recipes where you can toss in the ingredients in the am and presto it's ready when you get home. I dunno - just a thought. Also, do you have Freshdirect out there? Oh, how I love you Freshdirect. You can buy everything prepared and you just have to heat it up, but it still tastes yummy. Not like the crap you buy in the grocery store in the freezer.

  4. Hmm, not sure if we have one of those? I do love cooking, I just gotta get better about timing, etc. And I have a crock pot, but haven't used it yet. Maybe I'll try it this weekend! :-)

  5. Hooray for Ty being out of the hospital & I hope he and your sister's nerves are healing nicely. I, too, want a crock pot to try out all those meals. I will work on getting one within the next 2 weeks. Ms. Awesome, you have a crock pot you don't use & I have a Foreman grill unused. Let's make a pact that we'll use our new items within the next 7 days! You with me? C'mon! GO!

  6. Yay for strong little Ty! Ugh I feel for your sister because I would be a nervous wreck! I'm so glad everything is okay. I hate leftovers too. The only leftovers I like is grilled veggies and chicken. If I order a pizza I freeze most of it and when I eat it again it still tastes fresh.

  7. I order pizza just so I can have leftovers. This sounds silly, but Giada DiLurentias has a couple of shows dedicated to making dinner for one. I think you can go on the food network and pull the videos. Again with the weightloss deal, I think we all do it. "Hey, I have lost some weight, I can cheat today." I do it. I think you are doing great!!!! Woo Hoo!!!! And Woo Hoo for your nephew!
